Overview
In 2023, Herzog Transit Services Inc. (HTSI) was awarded the contract to operate and maintain the Silver Line, a new regional rail service for Dallas Area Rapid Transit. The 26-mile Silver Line corridor connects Plano, Texas, to Dallas–Fort Worth International Airport and is shared with several freight and passenger operators, including Fort Worth & Western Railroad (FWWR), Dallas, Garland & Northeastern Railroad (DGNO), Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC), BNSF Railway, and the Grapevine Vintage Railroad.
Under the agreement, HTSI oversees dispatching, train operations, maintenance of way, maintenance of signals, communications systems, and positive train control. The new line includes 10 stations—two of which are shared with TEXRail at DFW Airport—offers 60 weekday trips and 40 weekend trips. Service runs every 30 minutes during peak periods and every 60 minutes during off-peak hours and weekends.
The Silver Line fleet consists of eight FLIRT 3 Diesel Multiple Units (DMUs) manufactured by Stadler.
